7 Habits of Highly Effective People

1. Be proactive 2. Begin with the end in mind 3. Put first things first 4. Think win/win 5. Seek first to understand... then to be understood 6. Synergize 7. Sharpen the saw Habits one-three deal with personal/ private victories. These are the ones that no one sees, but mean the most. They are the foundation for everything that comes after. Habits four-six are the public victories. The seventh is a habit of renewal. For me, the most important one and the one I'm really trying hard to work on is number three. Since coming home from my mission, I've lost track of what really matters in life and what my priorities should be. In this book, there are four categories for this section. They are as follows: 1. Important and Urgent Activities- These include responding to a crisis, pressing problem or tight deadline. Crisis managers and problem-minded people are consumed primarily with this area of time management. 2. Important But Not Urgent Activities- Preventative mainten

Success

“The  first  and  best  victory  is  to  conquer  self;  to  be  conquered  by a elf  is,  of  all  things,  the  most  shameful  and  vile.” -Plato “You will never have a greater or lesser dominion than that over yourself... the height of a man’s success is gauged by his self-mastery; the depth of his failure by his self-abandonment. … And this law is the expression of eternal justice. He who cannot establish dominion over himself will have no dominion over others.” -Da Vinci Basically, what I learned this week is that ANYONE can be successful. It just takes a matter of time and effort. Do you think you have what it takes? Then DO IT. Don't overthink it. Don't stress about things that don't matter. Sit down. Pray. And make a plan. If you're feeling stressed, call mom. Or get some ice cream. Or go for a run. Or get on Pinterest for 10 minutes. But only 10 minutes because you know how you can get carried away ;) BUT do not put becoming successful over the things

A Hero's Journey

"If deep down inside, you aren't sure if you have what it takes to become successful, and even deeper down inside you feel like you'll lose yourself if you become successful, then listen to this." -A Hero's Journey I have faced this struggle many times during my life, especially in the past few weeks. I'm honestly scared of messing up, of not becoming successful, of making a mistake too big to fix. We all have those fears. We're human. It's a part of life. It's something we have to learn to deal with: our natural human fears. All the most successful people in life have faced failure and a lot of it. That's one of the main differences between people who are successful and people who are not. People who are not successful stop when they fail, but successful people pick themselves back up and keep going. Other things that I learned from "A Hero's Journey": You need to have FAITH Struggles= adventures Setbacks= lessons Mo

How Will You Measure Your Life?

This week was a huge learning experience for me. I don't know if you have read A Ministry of Business , but if you haven't and you plan on being a successful human being, I suggest you read it. I'm not saying that you won't be successful if you don't read the book. I'm just saying that if you read the book, you might have more success in your life. Okay, besides that, I wanted to touch on a few life questions that our professor asked us to ponder this week. They are as follows: 1. Will I be happy in my career? 2. What about my relationships? 3. How do I stay out of jail? Before this week, I can honestly say that I have never asked myself the third question. It has never crossed my mind. But, this class has been teaching me and pushing me to do things I've never done before, which I love. I pondered these a lot throughout the week and I think I will continue for awhile.  One of my favorite quotes is by C.S. Lewis and it goes, "Integrity is doi
